So yesterday I had to run in my OBGYN's office to pick something up. As I sit in the waiting room it happens. The first conversation about my daughter that I really didn't like. Of course in retrospect my replies to these question would have been different, but it is a learning curve.

How much does she weigh?
-6 1/2 pounds
Was she early?
-yes
How much did she weigh when she was born?
-1.11
Does she have to wear that all the time? (refering to o2)
-yes
What is her racial background?
-she is 1/2 puerto rican and 1/2 black
.......(long pause)
Your Puerto Rican?
-No, I'm black.
I am sorry.. but the last one had me is tears of laughter... only because I have been there... I did get onece... oh... she has your eyes.. but she must look like her dad.... my responce... I wouldn't know.... (ya.. not the best answer... but I was tired)

Love your response! My favorite comment of all time about my kids was from a black lady who said your kids are darker than mine, their dad must be really dark. I just said yeah and walked away...I didn't want to get into it. Others have asked me what country I got them from and I said the countries of Oklahoma and Utah. It's rough but over time you get better and quicker at your responses.
